All the FILSAN separators used in rotary vane or rotary screw type compressors which manufactured domestically or abroad, are produced by using specially and meticilously designed components of highest quality and standards. For this reason, most of the compressor manufactures and their exclusive distributors have a tendency to use the FILSAN products.

Spin-On Type Separators
The spin-on separators are small in size, their main advantage is that the capacity can be increased by using separate units in line connection. They are designed as easily exchangeable elements not requiring any separator housing. The flow is either from inside to outside or from outside to inside.
The pressure loss is around 0.25 bar at normal operating conditions with 1-3mg/m3 carryover oil content. flow rates are in the range of 0,8 to 6,5 m3/min under 7 bar operation pressure.
The separator canister can withstand to 20 bar pressure and mounted verticaly. There are two systems for the discharge of separated oil. Accumulated oil is removed through a pipe and recirculated. The discharged air should be dry and oil free.

Standart Type Separators
Air oil separators remove compressor lubricant from the compressed air stream. During normal operation, the compressor lubricant is returned to the oil sump and the compressed air continues to the air receiver. A typical oil separator reduces the lubricant entrained in the compressed air to 0,3ppm. Under normal operating conditions an oil separators service life is 4,000 to 6,000 operating hours (when the flow resistance reaches 1 bar (0.1MPa).

D-Type Separators
These type separators, as shown in Figure, are so designed that they fit the smaller separator housings without reducing the capacity or operating performance of the compressor. When compared to a conventional separator of the same dimensions, these separators have double or even triple capacity. The mentioned increase in capacity is simply achieved by using higher number of wraps in the separators.

Maintenance advice and Service life
•Pressure Drop at Load: 2-3 psi (150-200mbars)/100psi (7 bar)
•Collapse Strength: 50 psi (3.5 bars) minimum
•Oil Carry Over Rate: 1-3 ppm / 1-3 mg/m³
•Operating Temperature: 180°-250° F / 82°-121° C
•Materials: Urethane (or epoxy), galvanized steel and various high- performance Microglass fiber media configurations.
If Filsan’s Separators are Installed correctly and maintained properly, expected life is several thousand (up to 4000 ) hours. Air Oil Separators must be replaced if the flow resistane reaches 1 bar (0,1 MPa). This will vary considerably depending on maintenance, application, installation, usage and environmental conditions. (i.e. dust, humidity, smoke, pollution, etc.) Air intake filter, oil filter and coolant quality can have an impact on the separator service life. Filsan offers unique high efficiency air intake filters made of nano glass fibers to stop short service life problems on separators. Filsan separator construction and high-performance Microglass fiber media provides additional protection and maximum separator life.
